Our History
1960s
Reinaldo Green and Ernestina Vergara pioneered tourism on the island with Villa Green.
1990s – 2010
Jimena Green (daughter of the Green–Vergara family) and her husband Willy Martínez Recabarren created Hostería Martínez Green.
2010
The February 27th tsunami destroyed both Villa Green and Hostería Martínez Green.
2013
Guillermo Martínez Green (son of Jimena and Willy) founded ISLA PACÍFICO.
Today
The grandchildren of Willy and Jimena have joined the project. ISLA PACÍFICO now employs over 16 people during the 7-month high season, the majority of whom are island women.
Looking Ahead
Our goal is to continue fostering tourism led by islanders, expanding to the remote Alejandro Selkirk Island, our neighboring Santa Clara Island, while maintaining our operations on Robinson Crusoe Island.
