How to Get to the Juan Fernández Archipelago
Check with us for the availability of programs with pre-booked flight dates.
The island can be reached in two ways: by air or by sea
98% of visitors arrive by air
Flying is the most comfortable and efficient way to get here. Sea transport is primarily reserved for island residents, as it is a state-subsidized service. After islanders, priority is given to residents (professionals working on the island) and their families. With only 12 seats available per trip, you may occasionally find space, but if an islander, resident, or family member requires it, they will take priority and your reservation may be canceled.
Plan your visit in advance—we’ll help you.
Ask about our group programs, which include flight reservations, accommodation, and a variety of sea and land expeditions.
Where is Robinson Crusoe Island located?
The island is located 670 km off the Chilean coast, in the Pacific Ocean.
Questions & Tips
From October to late April is the driest season (less rain, more sunny days). These months are ideal for expeditions, hiking, diving, and more. We recommend avoiding the rainiest months, when some routes may close for safety or flights may be suspended due to weather conditions. However, visiting is always possible—check with us for availability.
For a complete experience, we recommend a minimum of 5 to 7 nights. For fishing trips, at least 7 nights.
You can enjoy low- to medium-intensity hiking, observation of endemic flora and fauna, diving or snorkeling in protected marine areas, cultural tours, and seasonal experiences. Ask us about your ideal program.
Yes, our programs include transfers (land, sea, or internal) and meal plans depending on the program (bed & breakfast, or half board with breakfast and dinner). If you prefer only part of the service, we also offer customized options and adapt to corporate groups, dive agencies, or travel agencies.
For recreational fishing programs and/or activities with pre-booked flight dates, cancellations are accepted with at least 3 months’ notice. For quotes including only accommodation and passengers on commercial flights (without dates reserved by ISLA PACIFICO), cancellations are accepted with at least 30 days’ notice.
Yes. You can adjust the length of stay, type of activities, level of accommodation, and extras (photography experiences, private activities, etc.). We work with more than 10 operators during the season, each offering tailor-made programs for groups of 8 to 10 guests. Contact us and we’ll design a plan just for you.
You must pay the entrance fee to the Juan Fernández Archipelago National Park before your arrival, either through a program or a commercial flight. For recreational fishing, licenses required by SERNAPESCA are included only for foreign visitors. Chilean fishers must pay this fee at the ISLA PACIFICO office.
We recommend basic physical fitness for walking several hours.
We recommend light luggage, ideally a camping backpack or duffel bag, as airlines allow only 10–15 kg. Bring comfortable, sporty clothing: cotton t-shirts, quick-dry pants, fleece, rain jacket, windbreaker, and a light down jacket. Avoid jeans or heavy clothing. For footwear, we suggest trail shoes (low or high cut if you’ll be hiking). For water activities, bring a swimsuit, lycra if you like, and sunscreen.
Visiting our destination is an adventure, so guests should be aware of weather variability. If an expedition or outdoor activity is canceled due to weather, we will reschedule for another day. All decisions are based on nautical reports from the maritime authority and the Juan Fernández Archipelago National Park.
Follow our social media and website, where we announce program dates in advance. These include expeditions, activities, and flights reserved exclusively for our clients (groups of 8 to 11 passengers). If program dates don’t suit you, you can travel independently on commercial flights with one of the three airlines and request accommodation with us, either at our Lodge or Glamping.
We have a Lodge with 8 private or double rooms, each with a private bathroom and terrace, with meal plan options (bed & breakfast or half board). Our Glamping has 3 domes, each accommodating up to 4 guests. At the Glamping, the experience is more independent, and we offer bed & breakfast only.
At both the Lodge and Glamping we provide Starlink satellite internet. In other areas, outside commercial zones, the signal is intermittent.
We implement first aid protocols, work with trained local guides, and operate services registered with the maritime authority and the national tourism service. We follow current regulations and maintain communication with local institutions. We always recommend following the guidance of our staff and guides.
You can submit a request through our web form or direct contact. We’ll then get in touch to review your requirements, adapt an available program, or coordinate commercial flight dates. If no program fits, we create a personalized experience for groups of friends, corporate teams, or companies.
